Buhari Denies Barring AIT, Blames Overzealous Aides

Nigeria’s president-elect Muhammadu Buhari, has instructed all his staff, including the personnel attached directly to him, to steer clear of all dealings with the media, and leave all media affairs to his official media team.
In a statement in Abuja on Wednesday, April 29, by the Directorate of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Mr. Buhari aligned himself with the pronouncement of his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC which had earlier expressed disagreement with the temporary barring of the African Independent Television (AIT) from covering his activities.
“I would like everyone to henceforth stay within his/her defined area of responsibility,” Mr. Buhari said.
The president-elect added that his media team should be left to continue to deal with their media colleagues in the best possible way.
According to the statement, Mr. Buhari was neither consulted nor informed about the AIT barring, and only became aware of the matter after the public uproar it generated.
“The time of CHANGE has come,” he said, “and we must avoid making the same mistakes that the outgoing government made.”

XENOPHOBIC ATTACKS: South African Government Promises To Prosecute Culprits

xenophobic Attacks
South Africa’s Minister of Home Affairs, Malusi Gig
The South African government has promised to deal with those behind the recent looting of businesses, and xenophobic attacks on African immigrant

The Minister of Home Affairs, Malusi Gigaba, says 300 people are already being questioned for their roles, and if found guilty, the strength of the law will come down hard on them.
Channels Television correspondent in South Africa, Betty Dibia, who was at the press briefing on Sunday, also reports the South African President Jacob Zuma has cancelled a planned state visit to Indonesia in order to attend to the lingering domestic situation in the country.
He visited some of the camps for displaced victims in Kwazulu-Natal province on Sunday afternoon where he commiserated with them.
There is expected to be a big townhall meeting on Monday in the province where the  Zulu king Goodwill Zwelithini, will host other traditional rulers and government official to discuss the situation.
A Nigerian mechanic’s workshop was among other foreign owned businesses affected by the violence.
The strong approach by the South African government is expected to help curtail the xenophobic attacks spreading across the country.
On Thursday, Nigerian lawmakers advised the Presidency to recall the High Commissioner to South Africa to discuss the situation and take swift action to save Nigerians in the KwaZulu-Natal Province that has seen days of protest against foreigners and xenophobic attacks.
On Friday, South Africa’s High Commissioner in Nigeria, Lulu Mnguni, told Channels Television that the South African government was having talks with traditional, religious and community leaders to see how they could address the issues from the root.

MTN Nigeria on Monday warned that it might be forced to close business and 99 per cent of its over 6,000 workforce in the country, who are Nigerians would lose their jobs, if it’s facilities are attacked. The telecommunication giant also said, the calls for the boycott of its services were not justified as such an action could lead to loss of livelihood for another 500,000 Nigerians.
Mr. Wale Goodluck, the Corporate Service Executive, MTN Nigeria stated this in Lagos and added that only 12 expatriates are working for the company in Nigeria, compared to a workforce of 6,000 Nigerians. We cannot bring back Chibok girls before May 29 - Presidency

Chibok girls Chibok girls
The Presidency has said it cannot rescue the over 200 abducted Chibok school girls before May 29 handover date and so the incoming government of General Muhammadu Buhari would have to devise the best approach to find and rescue the girls.
The National Security Adviser (NSA) Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) had earlier assured Nigerians, last Wednesday that the Nigerian troops would liberate Sambisa before the swearing-in of Buhari. However, Okupe, in his Facebook post on Saturday, foreclosed the feasibility of rescuing the girls before May 29. He disclosed that the issue of the missing Chibok school girls would be part of the handover notes currently being prepared by President Jonathan’s administration.

PROTEST IN NIGERIA OVER SOUTH AFRICAN XENOPHOBIC ATTACKS

Say No to Xenophobia Protest in Abuja

Nigerians in Abuja, the nation’s Abuja, on Monday registered their grievance over the continued xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other Africans in South Africa by marching on the South African High Commission.

The protesters carried placards that read: “We have showed Africans and South Africans love, why are they attacking us?”; “#SayNoToXenophobia”; “Stop the killings, South Africa Act Now!”; “We are Africans”; “Stop attacking and killing fellow Africans in South Africa”; “Why are they killing fellow Africans and destroying their businesses?”; “Foreigners are not responsible for your joblessness, stop the killings now”.
Deji Adeyanju, one of the organizers of the protest, told PREMIUM TIMES that some of his friends in South Africa told him they were afraid to come out of their homes.
Mr. Adeyanju said one of them, who works in an automobile company, said some of his neighbours in South Africa were wondering what they were still doing in that country.
“We also feel the plight of fellow Africans and foreigners who feel this same way,” Mr. Adeyanju said. “We use the opportunity to call on the South African government to act now.
“We are more concerned about the South African government stopping the violence.”

He said it was worrisome that some pictures distributed on various social media platforms showed South African police officers abating the attacks on foreigners in their country.
He said there must be a call to order.”
Mr. Adeyanju said while many others have called for the evacuation of Nigerians from South Africa, he feels differently about that proposal.
“Evacuation may not be 100 per cent,” he said. “There are Nigerians married to South Africans and many have kids too; we don’t want a bad precedence to be set.
“We are also trying to ensure that whatever we do or whatever fellow Africans do, they are mindful of the fact that their citizens are also living here in Nigeria and other parts of Africa; so South Africa cannot afford to be an enemy of the African continent.”
Another protester, Tolu Ebo said, “They have to stop it (xenophobia) now. The South African government cannot tell me that they don’t know the people that are involved in these acts. Their faces are all over the place. Why have they not been brought to book.
“This is not how we play diplomacy. No! They have to stop this and they have 24 hours to stop this.”

Before stating their mission to the commission’s representative, the protesters sang Nigeria’s national anthem in a show of solidarity.
The commission’s political secretary, Sthembiso Shongwe, representing the South African High Commissioner, said his country was working hard to end the attacks.
Mr. Shongwe was advised by the group to give a firsthand situation report on efforts by the South African government to stop the attacks and killings of other Africans in South Africa.
Mr. Shongwe said to the best of his knowledge, 84 people had been arrested since the violence erupted.
He said it was unfortunate the attacks were happening but assured that the South African government was doing everything possible to put the situation under control.
“These attacks, they are not acceptable because we are brothers and sisters but I can assure you that the government is serious in bringing this under control,” Mr. Shongwe said.

Lazy South Africans destroying & looting Non-South Africans Goods and Service Equipments

Tesy White's photo.

Xenophobia: Time To Unite.
While families who lost their loved ones cry in agony for the horrific departure, to the great beyond, by act of xenophobic idiots in South Africa. While newly made widows clenched their teeth in sorrow and now fatherless babies face an unknown future. While lamentations has replaced macosa in formerly joy filled homes.
The designers of this horrific true life tragedy are busy celebrating and looting the very source of livelihood of their supposedly brother.
Shame went to market the day black South Africans were born. Here is a beast in human form.
Tesy White's photo.
Tesy White's photo.
Yes! We have seen what they can do.
From Ghana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ivory Coast, Togo, Somali to every street, corner, offices and homes in every black African nation. Let's show them what we can do.
Even though am burning with anger and feels like calling on violent attack against every black South African. But, to do that is to reduce ourselves to their animalistic level.
But, from Accra, Lagos, Abuja, Abidjan, down to Harare let's hit them hard and bad. Let's boycott every South African services and products.
You don't have to wait for the government to act. Just size the moment and be the hero.
  • I use to use MTN for my internet. I stopped today and converted to GLO. I have equally loaded my other lines to make sure I stopped calling with MTN
  • I pulled down my DSTV and called a South African partner to cancel a deal.
  • There's nothing in Shop Rite and Pick N Pay you cannot get elsewhere
  • While South African Air line is not really the best.
  • Standard bank has nothing special to offer.
To continue to patronize any of these is to contribute funds that will be repatriated back to South Africa to fund those lazy blood sucking xenophobic idiots.
Don't wait or think that the expected change is coming elsewhere. You are the change the world need now. Our insignificant efforts when pulled together will bring these people to their kneels.
It is only by coming together in one accord and speaking in a united voice and stepping out in unity
of purpose that we can force Zuma to act. Act, not just to stop the xenophobia killing going on SA today. But, taking a step further to make sure it does not repeat itself.
Anywhere in Africa should be home to every black man.
Why have they forgotten so soon all the risks we took for them?
  • the Olympics we boycotted
  • the trade opportunities we forgo.
  • the sanctions we imposed.
  • The scholarships we awarded
  • the shelter we offered
  • the lean resources we shared and
  • the lives lost in pursuit of their freedom.
Except for having a heart of wickedness, black South Africans lack any convincing excuse: morally, socially, economically or otherwise. To visit their fellow black family with such unquantifiable wickedness.
Since this is not the first or second time of them carrying out xenophobic attack on other black Africans. Let's make sure it is the last.
So, from Benin Republic, Mali, Ghana, Ivory Coast down to Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi. Let us unit and boycott every South African goods and products.
Let us mobilize and march in protest on our various streets. Let's march to secure the lives and businesses of our fellow black families in South Africa.
Let's not wait for Obama to speak forth or BBC, CNN or ABC to air it. We have come of age, this is the age of fast information.
Let the boycott begin in earnest now.
Let the protest march start.

MEET THE SOUTH AFRICAN KING WHOSE REMARKS LAUNCHED THE XENOPHOBIC ATTACKS

Imo State Youths's photo.

Zulu King Godwill Zwelithini's utterances on March 23rd launched the Zenophobic attacks in South Africa and he had refused to apologize, even after finding out that his people have maimed, killed and destroyed businesses belonging to black foreigners. He's still insisting that foreigners should go back to their countries but tried to save face by saying attacking the foreigners is not how to chase them away. He wants the government to do it legally.
During a speech last month, Zwelithini called for the deportation of foreign nationals living in the country, saying it was unacceptable that locals were being made to compete with people from other countries for the few economic opportunities they had available. King Zwelithi said "foreigners must pack their bags and go home".
His three major complaints and why he wanted foreigners to go were;
1. SA traders in the townships said they could not compete with the prices that foreign-owned  businesses were selling their products.
2. foreigners involved in crime.
3. Lack of respect shown by foreigners to locals.

Addressing Pongolo community members during a moral regeneration event, Zwelithini accused government of failing to protect locals from the “influx of foreign nationals”. He said;
Most government leaders do not want to speak out on this matter because they are scared of losing votes. As the king of the Zulu nation, I cannot tolerate a situation where we are being led by leaders with no views whatsoever.
“We are requesting those who come from outside to please go back to their countries. The fact that there were countries that played a role in the country’s struggle for liberation should not be used as an excuse to create a situation where foreigners are allowed to inconvenience locals. I know you were in their countries during the struggle for liberation. But the fact of the matter is you did not set up businesses in their countries."
This is a barbaric behaviour from the king of Zulu. He should be brought to book. Over Five Nigerians have been killed in the xenophobic attack.

9ice appointed Special Adviser by Gov. Ajimobi

9ice and Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi

There are reports that 'Gongo Aso' singer, 9ice has been appointed a Special Adviser to the Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi.
Reports say popular Nigerian musician, Abolore Alexander Akande aka 9ice has been appointed Special Adviser by the Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi.

While there has been no confirmation from the Oyo State government or the musician, it should be noted that 9ice contested for the Ogbomosho North Constituency seat but lost at the party primaries.
Yet, the singer had been dedicated to his political ambition while supporting his political party, All Progressive Congress.
9ice is an award winning Nigerian singer, whose popularity amongst colleagues and politicians has continued to help guide his steps in the murky waters of politics.

10 Surprising Health Benefits of Sex

Sex not only feels good. It can also be good for you. Here’s what a healthy sex life can do for you.

1. Helps Keep Your Immune System Humming
“Sexually active people take fewer sick days,” says Yvonne K. Fulbright, PhD a sexual health expert.
People who have sex have higher levels of what defends your body against germs, viruses, and other intruders. Researchers at Wilkes University in Pennsylvania found that college students who had sex once or twice a week had higher levels of the a certain antibody compared to students who had sex less often.
You should still do all the other things that make your immune system happy, such as:
Eat right.
Stay active.
Get enough sleep.
Keep up with your vaccinations.
Use a condom if you don’t know both of your STD statuses.

2. Boosts Your Libido
Longing for a more lively sex life? “Having sex will make sex better and will improve your libido,” says Lauren Streicher, MD. She is an assistant clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago.
For women, having sex ups vaginal lubrication, blood flow, and elasticity, she says, all of which make sex feel better and help you crave more of it.

3. Improves Women's Bladder Control
A strong pelvic floor is important for avoiding incontinence, something that will affect about 30% of women at some point in their lives.
Good sex is like a workout for your pelvic floor muscles. When you have an orgasm, it causes contractions in those muscles, which strengthens them.

4. Lowers Your Blood Pressure
Research suggests a link between sex and lower blood pressure, says Joseph J. Pinzone, MD. He is CEO and medical director of Amai Wellness.
“There have been many studies,” he says. “One landmark study found that sexual intercourse specifically (not masturbation) lowered systolic blood pressure.” That's the first number on your blood pressure test.

5. Counts as Exercise
“Sex is a really great form of exercise,” Pinzone says. It won’t replace the treadmill, but it counts for something.
Sex uses about five calories per minute, four more calories than watching TV. It gives you a one-two punch: It bumps up your heart rate and uses various muscles.
So get busy! You may even want to clear your schedule to make time for it on a regular basis.  “Like with exercise, consistency helps maximize the benefits,” Pinzone says.

6. Lowers Heart Attack Risk
A good sex life is good for your heart. Besides being a great way to raise your heart rate, sex helps keep your estrogen and testosterone levels in balance.
“When either one of those is low you begin to get lots of problems, like osteoporosis and even heart disease,” Pinzone says.
Having sex more often may help. During one study, men who had sex at least twice a week were half as likely to die of heart disease as men who had sex rarely.

7. Lessens Pain
Before you reach for an aspirin, try for an orgasm.
“Orgasm can block pain,” says Barry R. Komisaruk, PhD, a distinguished service professor at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. It releases a hormone that helps raise your pain threshold.
Stimulation without orgasm can also do the trick. “We’ve found that vaginal stimulation can block chronic back and leg pain, and many women have told us that genital self-stimulation can reduce menstrual cramps, arthritic pain, and in some cases even headache,” Komisaruk says.

8. May Make Prostate Cancer Less Likely
Going for the gusto may help ward off prostate cancer.
Men who ejaculated frequently (at least 21 times a month) were less likely to get prostate cancer during one study, which was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
You don’t need a partner to reap this benefit: Sexual intercourse, nocturnal emission, and masturbation were all part of the equation.
It's not clear that sex was the only reason that mattered in that study. Lots of factors affect cancer risk. But more sex won’t hurt.

9. Improves Sleep
You may nod off more quickly after sex, and for good reason.
“After orgasm, the hormone prolactin is released, which is responsible for the feelings of relaxation and sleepiness" after sex, says Sheenie Ambardar, MD. She is a psychiatrist in West Hollywood, Calif.

10. Eases Stress
Being close to your partner can soothe stress and anxiety.
Ambardar says touching and hugging can release your body's natural “feel-good hormone.” Sexual arousal releases a brain chemical that revs up your brain’s pleasure and reward system.
Sex and intimacy can boost your self-esteem and happiness, too, Ambardar says. It’s not only a prescription for a healthy life, but a happy one

Agbaje Asks Igbos To Push APC Into Atlantic Ocean

Jimi Agbaje
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Jimi Agbaje, has called on Igbos across the state to push the All Progressives Congress ‘into the lagoon’ by voting for him on Saturday.
Agbaje stated this while addressing Igbo traders at the Alaba International Market on Thursday.
He asked Ndigbo living in Lagos to ignore the threats made by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, that if they do not vote for the APC governorship candidate on Saturday, they would die in the lagoon.
Agbaje, who stormed the market in company of his running mate, Safuratu Abdulkarim and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, said the APC had become arrogant because the party had been in power for too long..

PDP Lambasts Oba Of Lagos, Ekiti Lawmakers, Says Anti-Igbo Threat ” Plunge To Anarchy”

Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has condemned what it called the “emerging height of political recklessness in Lagos and Ekiti states” ahead of Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections and called on all Nigerians to stand up against such anti-democratic tendencies.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Olisa Metuh, Monday, the party said the “senseless and unpatriotic” impeachment move against Governor Ayo Fayose by out-going APC state legislators and the “barbaric” death threats on non-indigenes in Lagos by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, if they vote for the PDP candidate, Jimi Agbaje, ascend to a height of unruliness that should not be accommodated.
“The PDP totally and unequivocally rejects the flimsy and unsubstantiated allegations concocted by the APC legislators against Governor Fayose. We state in very clear terms that we will stand with him and bear our full weight in defense of the mandate freely given to him by the people of Ekiti state.
“We invite all lovers of democracy and the international community to note the antics of APC and the deliberate plot to destabilize the polity even when it is yet to assume power,” the party said.
It also said it was most unfortunate that a royal father of the status of the Oba of Lagos should attempt to drag the revered traditional institution into partisan politics to the level of threatening innocent Nigerians with the view to prevent them from freely exercising their constitutionally guaranteed right.
“Our response to the Oba of Lagos is that he cannot play God and can never be God. God owns the universe and every part of it and can never share His glory with any human no matter how highly placed.
“We therefore call on all Nigerians in Lagos state; all Igbos, Hausas, Yorubas and people of other tribes; all northerners and southerners; all Christians and Muslims to turn against this unpatriotic stance, by coming out enmasse to vote for the PDP candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, on Saturday,” it said.
PDP added that the comments by the Oba reminds of the 2013 inhuman and callous arrest, detention and eventual “deportation” of non-indigenes by the APC-led government of Lagos state and confirms fears that the APC is indeed on a mission to destroy our national unity, balkanize the nation and obliterate the personal freedom Nigerians enjoy today.
“Already, the APC has started terrorizing supporters of the PDP with vows to make life unbearable for them when it eventually assumes power.
“Our investigation reveals that many of our prominent supporters have been marked. The process has already started with threats to the life, family and business of the Chairman of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN), Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah for supporting PDP candidates and helping non-indigenes win some Lagos seats in the National Assembly on the platform of the our great party.
“Indeed, if this threats on a duly elected state governor and innocent Nigerians constitute the picture or foretaste of the order of the day when the APC finally assumes power at the center, then the nation is in serious danger. However, the PDP states in very unambiguous terms that Nigerians would not accept such under any guise whatsoever.
“This is more so because in the last 16 years, our citizens from all walks of lives have seen civility and decorum under the PDP-led administration and would not accept any attempt by anybody to institute a reign of terror in the country.
“We therefore urge General Muhammadu Buhari as the leader of the APC to call his members and supporters, particularly in Lagos and Ekiti to order; especially bearing in mind that it was the peaceful atmosphere and the level playing ground nurtured by the PDP-led administration that created the room for his emergence at the presidential polls,” it said.
The ruling party further said that Nigeria cannot at this moment afford to slide into anarchy, reign of terror and deliberate schemes to divide the people for selfish political reasons.
“The PDP will completely resist all anti democratic forces from any quarters. We therefore charge Nigerians, especially those in Lagos and Ekiti states respectively to stand up fearlessly and reject the unpatriotic stance of the Oba of Lagos and the undemocratic move to dismantle the mandate given to Governor Ayo Fayose by the people,” it said.

Lagos Too Important For APC To Lose – Buhari

Nigeria’s President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday said that Lagos State is too important for the All Progressives Congress to lose to the opposition.
Mr. Buhari, at the APC rally in Orile area of the state, urged residents to vote en masse for the party’s governorship candidate in Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode on Saturday.
“Defy all elements, whatever it may be, and vote for APC from top to bottom,” he said.
Mr. Buhari told the crowd that Lagos, with its huge investments, could not be toyed with.
“Don’t attempt to be on the wrong side of the centre because we are now the centre.
“Tell your neighbours, your relatives and even the opposition party to please bury the hatchet and fall in line and vote for APC,’’ he said.
The President-elect assured the people that they stood to benefit a lot if they voted for the APC.
Mr. Buhari said that he would prioritise investment in Lagos infrastructure, noting that the state is a “mini Nigeria”.
“Gov. Babatunde Fashola has told me how much the state has been spending to maintain Federal Government infrastructure, including roads, buildings and other institutions.
“I urge Ambode, who will be the next governor of the state, to harass me sufficiently to honour my undertaking,” he said.
He commended the APC’s National Leader, Bola Tinubu, for all he had done in terms of mobilising revenue to sustain development in the state.
He also commended Mr. Fashola for his hard work, commitment to the state and to the country.
“I am extremely impressed,” he said.
Mr. Tinubu, in his address, also urged Lagos residents to vote wisely in the governorship and House of Assembly elections and not to waste their votes for the opposition.
“As you vote on Saturday, pray that God will not let you waste your vote; a vote for progress is a vote for development,” he said.
Mr. Tinubu said that Mr. Ambode was chosen as the party’s governorship candidate because he had the brain, character, integrity and ability to do a good job.
“Vote for the man that will give you solid development, happiness, hope and great progress in Lagos and in Nigeria.
“We have a President-elect from the party now, we have gotten victory and we will continue with the progress that Nigeria deserves,” Mr. Tinubu said.
He noted that in the last 16 years, the state had been fair to all tribes.
“In 2011, when Jimi Agbaje asked me to give him the governorship ticket, I told him he was not qualified and I told him I was going to support a man of character and sound mind, which is Fashola.
“Since then, Fashola has performed tremendously well and has not been sentimental, especially against the Igbos,” he said.
Mr. Fashola also urged residents to vote Mr. Ambode saying that the state must not remain in opposition to the centre.
“We are 5.8 million on the voters register and I will want three million votes for Ambode.
“Put ethnic sentiments aside, there will be no discrimination.
“As your governor, I have defended you every time you have been intimidated without discrimination.
Mr. Fashola said that Mr. Buhari had promised to compensate the state for all federal government assets it had maintained.
“That sign of compensation is already here and I know you won’t want to miss it,” he said.
Mr. Ambode also solicited support from the people urging them to vote APC as they did on March 28.
“I want to say a big thank you to you all; March 28 was historic for Lagosians, we said we wanted change and we made it possible.
“I urge you to repeat that on Saturday.
“We are united on one cause, we will not discriminate against anyone.
“We are all one, be you Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo; that is how we will remain forever,” he said.
Mr. Ambode urged Lagos residents to consider the possibilities they stood to gain with APC being the party at the centre.
Also present at the rally were Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers, Audu Ogbeh, Chris Ngige, and the APC National Chairman, John Oyegun, among others.
